Description:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our Health Psychology service. You will initially support a pilot service to extend psychosocial provision for people living with cancer, and their carers, funded by Macmillan and the East Midlands Cancer Alliance.
Working under supervision, you will support the development and evaluation of the service including clinical interventions. We are keen to hear from people committed to co-production, addressing health inequalities and promoting a trauma informed approach. You will be flexible, adaptable and willing to work across a range of areas.

Initially based in our cancer service, in the future you will have the opportunity to gain experience within our wider health psychology service.

You will work under the supervision of the Clinical Lead Psychologist to support the development and delivery of psychologically informed group and individual interventions. You will support the evaluation of the service and facilitate staff, patient, and stakeholder engagement activities to help co-produce the service, address health inequalities, and promote a trauma informed approach.
You will also support research activities and literature reviews, as needed. This role may include developing digital and other resources and supporting teaching and training.
This is a varied role, which will adapt over time to respond to the service’s evolving needs. It is likely that a number of longer term projects may be developing at any one time. You will work in other areas of health psychology depending on service needs, engaging in a full range of activities identified in the job description .
Our team provides psychological services into a range of physical health condition pathways, including the core Clinical Health Psychology service, Pain Management, Cancer Services, Specialist Weight Management, Diabetes Education, Post Covid Psychology and our public health Psychological Insights Team.
The evolving nature of our service means there are constantly emerging opportunities to apply our psychological models and behaviours insights across the organisation. You will have lots of colleagues to draw on in your role offering a wide range of experience in different therapeutic modalities.

To support psychology input to the Clinical health psychology Team. Duties could include:
Developing and implementing psychologically informed resources
Co-facilitating psycho-education and peer support groups for service users under clinical supervision and guidance
Supervised one-to-one psycho-education and guided self-help with service-users
Establishing and working within therapeutic boundaries
Basic Cognitive assessment (with training and supervision provided)
Being involved with patient and public involvement initiatives to help inform, develop, and promote the rehabilitation offer
Supporting audit, service evaluation and research activity
Encouraging and supporting the development of psychological knowledge and skills for multi-disciplinary colleagues
To assist in the delivery of training for colleagues and other staff groups on relevant psychological skills and perspectives
Contributing to multi-disciplinary and other team meetings
