We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Assistant Psychologist to join our team based at our Childrens Disability Network Team West Kerry, Oakview Village, Tralee, Co Kerry.
Contract Type: Fixed Term contract – 1 year
Contract Hours: 1.00wte 35 hours p/w
Salary Scale: €29,247 (single point salary scale) pro rata per annum.
Annual Leave: 30 days pro-rate per annum
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A) (i) Have a Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) accredited qualification at not less than a Level 8 at 2.1 honours grade on the QQI qualifications framework in which psychology was a major subject,
OR
(ii) A Level 8 honours degree in another subject (2.1 or higher) together with an accredited conversion qualification at a minimum of (2.1) as conferring eligibility for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland,
OR
(iii) A qualification equivalent to the above accredited by the British Psychological Society for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society,
OR
(iv) A qualification equivalent to either (i) or (ii) which would allow the applicant to become a graduate member of the PSI.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Any relevant post graduate training specific to child disability services.
- An awareness and understanding of the features of Autism Spectrum Disorder

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
Working as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team to provide skilled Assistant Psychology Services to meet the assessed needs of children, young people and their families.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Working under the direction of the Children’s Disability Network Manager and as a member of the interdisciplinary team, the post holder will:
DUTIES:
- To assist the clinical supervisor in conducting prescribed interventions, both individual and group, of children attending services.
- To assist the clinical supervisor in conducting assessments of individuals or groups such as direct observation, formal psychometric testing, semi-structured interviews, and report writing.
- Assist the clinical supervisor in the process of research, literature reviews, presentations, evaluations, and contribution to articles for publication, as required.
- Operate within the Psychological Society of Ireland’s (PSI) Code of Ethics.
- Promote and deliver services within the ethos and philosophy of Enable Ireland.
- Work as a member of the inter-transdisciplinary team providing an integrated and coordinated service to children and their families and contribute to the development of person centred plans.
- Assist the clinical supervisor in relation to the provision of advice/support programmes and training for parents and families as required.
- Assist the clinical supervisor in relation to training initiatives for both other professionals as required.
- With the Team, maintain statistical records and input to service reports and other relevant reports as required.
- Ensure that professional standards are maintained at all times.
- Monitor and keep up-to-date with developments in Psychology and early intervention, including attending training courses and participating in research and development.
- Participate in training on child protection issues as required.
- Maintain quality standards within the service and participate in quality developments.
- Comply with policies and procedures as advised.
- Participate in regular supervision and seek additional supervision when required.
- Perform any other duties appropriate to the position from time to time.
- Assist qualified Psychologists in the process of referring service users onto other services where needed.
- Comply with Enable Irelands policies, procedures and guidelines.
