Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to be part of The General Paediatric Psychology Service (GPPS), providing psychological interventions to children and young people with medical conditions, and to their families. The Assistant Psychologist will join the team of qualified Clinical Psychologists and will also be part of the wider Child Psychology Department.
The Assistant Psychologist will support Clinical Psychologists working within GPPS. They will be supervised to deliver psychological interventions to children, young people and families both through the team’s workshop programme, as well as individually to children and families. They will have a key role in developing resources for the team and wider MDT. The Assistant Psychologist will help the team assess the effectiveness of the service offered to children, young people and families.
The Assistant Psychologist will also provide support to colleagues in education concerning the psychological needs of children with medical conditions under the Healthy Minds; A Whole-School Approach. They will be involved in developing resources as well as providing training and advice about the emotional needs of children with long term medical needs.
Psychologists within the General Paediatric Psychology Service (GPPS) work alongside multi-disciplinary colleagues within General Paediatrics in SBUHB. The new GPPS Assistant Psychologist will be welcomed into the SBUHB Child Psychology department. This is an expanding, friendly and supportive network of psychologists working with babies, children and families. We meet regularly for CPD, reflective practice and to share ideas and developments.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
