Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the large and expanding of Northants Eating Disorder Service (NEDS). NEDS is a passionate and energetic countywide psychology-led service. The team (over 25. w.t.e.) currently comprises of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists (RMN), Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Specialist Dieticians, Occupational Therapist, Support Workers (including Peer Support Workers), Arts Therapists, Assistant Psychologists).
NEDS is a very well-established service, which has evolved over the past 30 years and is a pioneer of community-based approaches to treatment and support. We offer evidence-based treatment for the whole spectrum of eating disorders: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and OSFED. A comprehensive range of services is provided, from outpatient individual and group treatment packages for relatively mild-moderate cases of Bulimia Nervosa and Binge-eating disorder, through to intervention and case management of people with severe Anorexia Nervosa. Clinicians in NEDS work with individuals locally in the community and also co-ordinate referrals to Out of Area inpatient admissions to Specialist Eating Disorder Units (SEDU’s), when needed.
We are developing stronger links with third sector and community organisations and co-production with service users and carers is highly valued and central to our delivery.
The Assistant Psychologist role within the Eating Disorders service will involve working in a multi-disciplinary team comprising clinical psychologists, psychological practitioners, support workers and administration.
The post holder will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the service; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
The postholder will play a key role in supporting new service developments including research and development of materials, service evaluation and related data analysis.
Assistant Psychologists will be required to work independently according to a plan agreed with their supervisor and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
There are opportunities to access relevant training in eating disorder interventions and to participate in Trust-wide CPD activities associated with the clinical psychology service. In addition, there is an active assistant psychologists’ group within the Trust.
The post holder will be accountable to a Senior Psychologist in the Team.
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
NHFT promotes a culture of learning to improve the care and safety of our patients and staff, which focuses on people who enable our Trust to be ‘outstanding’ by supporting opportunity, innovation, development and growth.
