(1.0 WTE FULL TIME, 1-YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACTS)

St Patrick’s Mental Health Services is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointment as fixed term, Assistant Psychologists from July 7th, 2025, to assist in the running of group psychological therapy programmes and a variety of research roles.

The successful applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Eligible for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland
  • Excellent communications skills

These additional criteria are highly desirable:

  • Previous experience working with clinical populations
  • Previous research experience
  • Previous experience with group psychological therapy programmes
  • A Master’s degree in Psychology, or completion in 2025 of a Master’s degree in Psychology

Please note, successful candidates will be required to be fully available on site in St Patrick’s University Hospital, Dublin, for an initial handover period during which time no leave will be permitted. This handover period will run from July 7th to July 18th, 2025.

Essential:

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties of the Assistant Psychologist under the supervision of a clinical/counselling psychologist are outlined below. In carrying out all duties, the Assistant Psychologist should ensure that all hospital policies, Health & Safety procedures, and legislative requirements are met at all times.

Co-ordination and some co-facilitation of a variety of group psychological therapy programmes and the opportunity to work with adult, adolescent, and older adult service users.

  • Collection and analysis of outcome data across the hospital.
  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of the group psychological therapy programmes.
  • Providing administrative support for the aforementioned programmes.
  • Become familiar with relevant background literature and theory.
  • Liaise with other staff from a range of disciplines in relation to the aforementioned programmes.
  • Conduct orientation sessions for potential group participants.
  • Conduct pre- and post-intervention psychometric assessments, including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients referred to the aforementioned programmes.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with the Psychology Department, providing regular feedback from relevant programmes as needed.
  • As required undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries in relation to the aforementioned programmes.
  • Participate in research projects as needed.
  • Attend regular individual and team supervision.
  • There are opportunities to work on site and remotely, depending on service needs.
