Assistant Quality Manager

SUMMARY:

The Assistant QHSE Manager, in conjunction with the QHSE Manager, is responsible for overseeing and implementing the Unit’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment policies, procedures, and initiatives. This individual collaborates with cross-functional departments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, promote a culture of safety, improve operational efficiency, and minimize environmental impact.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees and certification (eg, NEBOSH, ISO Lead Auditor) are welcome.
• 5 – 7 years of experience in QHSE Manager role.
• Previous experience in creating safety program or changing culture of safety.
• Previous experience managing a team of direct and indirect reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a good understanding of OSHA, DOT, and Workers’ Comp laws.
• Must have good knowledge of investigation procedures and root cause analysis.
• Strong ability with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
• Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
• Strategic thinker with creativity and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Resilient self-starter, who can act independently and learn quickly within a rapidly evolving environment.
• Strong analytical skills for interpretation of data to effectively manage risk.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with site operations, functional leaders and external clients and vendors.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and a strong commitment to business ethics.

QHSE Strategy and Leadership

• Deploy the QHSE strategy in alignment with the company’s objectives and goals.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the QHSE team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Engage with management to communicate the importance of QHSE and gain support for initiatives.

Compliance and Regulatory Affairs

• Monitor QHSE regulations, ensuring compliance with Newrest, local, regional, and international standards.
• Ensure QHSE regulations are interpreted according to Newrest and legal standards.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential risks and non-compliance issues.

Health and Safety

• Ensure the Health and Safety policies and programs are followed by everyone.
• Assess and mitigate workplace hazards, and promote a safe working environment for everyone.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.

Quality Management

• Execute the Quality Management System (QMS) and drive continuous improvement efforts.
• Execute quality assurance processes, ensuring products and services meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Facilitate internal and external quality audits and manage corrective actions.

Environmental Management

• Develop and implement environmentally sustainable practices to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
• Track and report on environmental performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Foster environmental awareness and responsibility across the organization.

Training and Development

• Conduct QHSE training programs to educate employees on policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Ensure proper training and competency assessment for QHSE team members.

Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare and present QHSE performance reports to management and stakeholders.
• Analyze data to identify trends, make data-driven decisions, and develop action plans.
• Be diligent, punctual, and reliable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
