Description:
What you will do
NorthBest Distributors LTD, a Det’on Cho Group of Companies division, has an opening for a full-time Assistant Sales Manager. Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Sales Manager is responsible for prospecting new accounts/customers and covering for other managers while they are away. Including:
Face-to-face and over-the-phone sales to new customers and /or repeat sales to existing customers.
Assessing customer needs and suggesting appropriate products, services, and/or solutions.
Developing and delivering sales bids/proposals/presentations and conducting product demonstrations.
Developing medium to long-term sales plans and preparing strategies to protect, grow and diversify the relationship with targeted customers.
A Day in the Life
Responsibilities:
Develop new business, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth and special objectives within assigned territory.
Seek and qualify prospects following company account stratification goals.
Research customer business needs and develops a mix of products and services to meet needs.
Evaluate market trends and recommend products based on business needs and goals.
Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors’ products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of the value-added services provided.
Answer customers’ questions about products, prices, availability, and product use.
Provide product information and practical training to customer personnel.
Drive vehicle travel to customer accounts, conventions, and company meetings.
Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the finance department and client; collect all balances due based on approved credit terms.
Manage deliveries according to the routing schedule published by the transportation department; troubleshoot any problems that occur during the order process (e.g., out-of-stock items, special order items, and low inventory).
Participate in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and customer events.
Attend and participate in general sales and district meetings.
Engage in ongoing training sessions and assist with training new employees as requested.
Review and analyze daily and weekly reports such as special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales/gross profit margin data.
Perform administrative duties, such as preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits, and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.
Attend trade shows to prospect for new customers
Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts or related discipline or;
A High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of Restaurant Management experience
B2B or outside sales experience, or equivalent relatable experience
Highly organized and well-developed oral and written communication skills
Reside or willing to relocate to the Yellowknife, Northwest Territories
Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Office, including excellent.
Ability to read, write, and speak English and or the official languages of Northwest Territories.
Able to build trusting business relationships and customer loyalty
Ability to conduct sales follow-up and persuasiveness
Adaptability to changing business needs
Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable
Familiarity with Yellowknives Dene language, culture and way of life would be considered assets.
