Biochemistry & Molecular Biology has an exciting opportunity for a full time Assistant Scientist, SOM position. The incumbent carries out a particular research agenda in support of the University’s research goals and objectives. Moreover, the Assistant Scientist, SOM contributes to the scientific community by publishing research findings and promotes the University’s reputation as a leader in the field.

EDUCATION:

Ph.D., M.D., or other doctoral-level degree-relevant field

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum one year of relevant experience

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS

  1. Investigate the impact of metabolic pathways and the microenvironment on immune cell epigenomes.
  2. Use mouse models to explore immune dysregulation and malignant hematopoiesis.
  3. Apply advanced bioinformatics techniques, including transcriptomic, chromatin, and DNA methylation analysis.
  4. Utilize CRISPR editing and screening in both human and murine cell line models.
  5. Collaborate closely with Dr. Cimmino and Dr. Telonis to generate hypotheses, design and execute experiments, interpret data, and present findings.
  6. Prepare research manuscripts and contribute to joint grant applications.
  7. Supervise and mentor junior trainees in the lab.
  8. Work on establishing epigenetic biomarkers for malignant hematopoiesis.
