Are you ready to take your engineering career to the next level? We are seeking a motivated Assistant Site Engineer to support major infrastructure projects across the North East of Scotland. This role offers an exciting chance to work alongside experienced professionals on essential projects that power the future.
As an Assistant Site Engineer, you’ll be a key player in delivering high-quality, sustainable projects. You’ll gain hands-on experience in site operations, engineering design, and project management, all while building the foundational skills that will set you up for a successful career in infrastructure. This role is ideal for early-career engineers with a passion for learning, technical skills, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

THE FOLLOWING QUALITIES/EXPERIENCE ARE ESSENTIAL:

  • Proficient in project communications
  • Effective verbal and written communication at all levels of the organisation

  • Able to communicate and confirm understanding of briefings

DESIRABLE QUALITIES/EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Holds a current driving license
  • Preferred to have or be working towards one or more of the following (training provided):
  • Formal qualification (HND, BSc, MSc)
  • CSCS and SSSTS or similar certification

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Attend periodic project reviews
  • Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries, etc.)
  • Prepare internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
  • Help ensure teams provide relevant information for informed, cost-effective decisions
  • Learn to read technical information, routing, setting-out, and drawings
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Safety
  • Assist in managing safety and welfare of the public, employees, and supply chain
  • Attend periodic Safety & Environmental Tours and promote safety initiatives
  • Assist in implementing solutions and closing actions from technical, engineering, and safety perspectives
  • Read and understand risk assessments, technical work instructions, and method statements
  • Identify, raise, and report risks and hazards
  • Help update resource allocation plans and raise appropriate requests
  • Plan daily tasks independently
  • Manage subcontractors, including monitoring attendance and progress, providing instruction and support to meet contractual goals
  • Help ensure procurement plans are aligned with project schedules for timely material/resource delivery
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and updating resource-loaded schedules
