Job Overview
The Retail Assistant Store Manager, under the direction of the Store Manager, is primarily responsible for the daily business operations of the store including training and supervising employees, interacting with customers, motivating teams, managing inventory levels, and handling any other task assigned by the store manager
The Assistant Store Manager is the first point of contact for addressing and dealing with customer complaints and ensuring that customers have an enjoyable experience when visiting the retail store.
All Assistant Store Managers are expected to be stewards of compliance and education leading by example, providing education, and reinforcing company standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the experience models and customer retention programs are executed consistently to inspire teams to deliver industry leading guest experience.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Direct and supervise employees engaged in sales, inventory-taking, and cash reconciliations.
  • Build team commitment to high standards of service, exceeding customer expectations and leading by example.
  • Monitor sales activities to ensure customers receive satisfactory service and quality goods.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements by following processes and structure to ensure compliance.
  • Communicate changes in policy, procedures, products, services, promotions, or any other alterations that affect the customer.
  • Assist Store Manager with training and managing all employees in execution of daily tasks and to maximize sales.
  • Manage all employees in execution of daily tasks and to maximize sales.
  • Support proper channels of communication that exist between the store, supervisors, and corporate partners.
  • Exercise judgment and discretion independently and in conjunction with the Store Manager in the day-to-day operations of the store.
  • Coordinate merchandise replenishment and the flow of merchandise from the stock room to the sales floor.
  • Assist the store team in maintaining the store’s visual objectives and housekeeping standards by straightening merchandise and assisting in floor and fixture changes.
  • Assist with Sales Associate and Lead responsibilities as the workday may require.
  • Is available to work a flexible schedule and the hours necessary to open and/or close the store, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in the retail industry.
  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in a supervisory role in a retail environment.
  • Clear criminal record.
  • Provincial Cannabis Certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; able to motivate staff and build positive relationships with team members.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills; able to navigate difficult conversations in a professional and diplomatic manner.
  • Able to guide, direct and mentor employees to develop their knowledge and skills.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Overtime as required.
