Description:
Cottonwood Golf Course is located in Cassidy, BC just south of Nanaimo BC. It is a full 18 hole golf course that is family owned and is looking for a dedicated and passionate Assistant Superintendent to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team that will maintain and improve all areas of the golf course.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid BC driver’s license.
- Minimum 3 years of golf course maintenance experience.
- Excellent leadership and troubleshooting/problem solving skills
- Pesticide applicators license or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position. 50+ lbs lifting frequently
- Knowledge of the game of golf.
- knowledge of irrigation system operation, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Experience in supervising, directing, scheduling and training staff.
- Basic mechanical/equipment repair knowledge
- Experienced Irrigation Technicians will be strongly considered for this role.
Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 8-10 months
Pay: $24.00-$29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Morning shift
- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
Education:
- Secondary School (preferred)
Experience:
- Golf maintenance: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- BC Drivers Licence (preferred)

Responsibilities:
- Carry out cultural and chemical practices in all areas of golf maintenance work on a daily basis
- Work closely with the Superintendent in preparing both short and long-term agronomic strategies.
- Organize and direct the daily activities of the golf maintenance staff.
- Daily communication with the Superintendent.
- Monitoring of all turfgrass environments and all other areas on the grounds.
- Communicate with Pro Shop staff about delays, closures and maintenance scheduling.
- Help to create a positive environment.
- Mentor and help develop staff in all areas. This includes equipment operation, irrigation maintenance and operation, cultural techniques, safety and training.
