Description:

The University of Plymouth operates a mature, friendly and professional IT Support Service. We are looking for a candidate with experience of providing excellent customer service and a keen interest in IT. It is NOT essential that applicants have previous experience in an IT-based role.
You will have a genuine customer service ethos and understand how IT support is vital to a University with a reputation for high quality, internationally leading education, research and innovation. We have a proven track record in providing the workforce with IT that works and excellent support for when things don’t.
The role will be busy, and the pace, range and volume of work will require you to always maintain a professional approach and customer focus; confident in dealing with people at all levels of the University with varying degrees of digital literacy, to provide technical support and fix issues at the first point of contact, where possible. You will gain exposure to new and well-established technology.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, initially until 28th August 2025 due to business demand. Our offices are primarily based across the main University campus in Plymouth; however, we do have some remote sites where you might be asked to visit on occasion.
We regret that there is no opportunity to work from home in this position.
For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Geoff Martin (Senior Support Analyst) by email geoff.martin@plymouth.ac.uk or telephone 01752 587143.
Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement.
Interviews are likely to take place week commencing Monday 28th October 2024 and you will be notified if you have been shortlisted or not.
We offer a competitive salary package and a generous pension and holiday scheme. We also offer a range of other benefits/support mechanisms, including ongoing development opportunities, flexible working, staff networks and enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
A summary of our comprehensive benefits can be viewed here.
A successful external candidate for this position would be employed by the University of Plymouth Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Plymouth. Employees of the University of Plymouth Services Limited work alongside the University of Plymouth colleagues in delivery of Plymouth’s strategic vision, and will adopt the University of Plymouth’s HR policies and procedures in full unless otherwise stated.
The University of Plymouth is an inclusive community where everyone is welcomed regardless of their background. To find out more about our inclusive community initiatives, such as Athena Swan and the Race Equality Charter, please visit our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion webpages.
We particularly welcome applicants from under-represented communities at the University of Plymouth, such as carers/parents, people with disabilities, ethnically diverse, LGBT+, and people from all socio-economic backgrounds.
