We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Surveyor to join our Asset Management Team within the in Kirklees Council Homes and Neighbourhoods’ Assets and Development Team.

The Asset Management Team deal with:

  • The day-to-day maintenance of asset management and related health and safety compliance databases, the input and use of information from these databases.
  • The surveying and development of capital and planned maintenance works programmes.
  • Structural defects, responsive repairs, leasehold sales, boundary issues and tenant improvements.
  • The scheduling of required repairs and major works required in empty properties to bring them up to the lettable standard.

As a proactive Assistant Surveyor, the post holder will support the team leader and delivery of operational duties of their service / business area. The post holder will work with colleagues across the organisation in line with Kirklees Council’s (KC) core behaviours and values and contribute to the delivery of the organisation’s purpose, vision and objectives, ensuring positive outcomes for the business and KC Homes and Neighbourhoods (H&N) customers.
The post holder will provide technical and administrative support both in back-office desktop activities and on-site during survey and project delivery. The post holder will provide support on all aspects of building maintenance and surveying particularly withing the voids team. Collection, collation and maintenance of critical asset data and a supporting role during the provision of reports will play a significant part in day-to-day activities.
Technical development and progression are critically important to this role.
Key deliverables for this role will include preparing professional and clearly written communications to colleagues, partners and customers, support to the asset, housing management and property services teams within the voids workstream of Kirklees Homes and Neighbourhoods, including identifying risk, scheduling of repair and data collection and cleansing.
