Description:
POSITION DETAILS
The Faculty of Arts and Science requires the services of a Computer Science – Assistant System Administrator (General Clerk II) in a term position, beginning January 2, 2024, and ending December 31, 2025.
We are seeking an independent, service-oriented individual who will take initiative and contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the Linux System in the Department of Math and Computer Science. This is a full-time position supporting the Linux Systems Administrator.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will currently be enrolled in the Faculty of Arts & Science Computer Science Co-Op program at the University of Lethbridge and will have relevant skills to perform assigned tasks.
Experience with Linux and scripting is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent communication skills
- Organizational and problem-solving skills
- Sufficient judgment to deal with unexpected changes, frequent interruptions and overlapping demands, while maintaining effective working relationships within the department and University community.
Responsibilities:
- Providing support to students and faculty, both in-person and through MS Teams and Zoom
- Assisting with basic system administration functions
- Compilation and installation of software and software updates
- Installation and maintenance of hardware
- Performing updates and other functions needed to keep systems running smoothly
- Researching new technology and software for improvement to the system
