Description:

THE FIRM

We stand out for our consistently excellent advice: we provide technical excellence, experience and crucially, we demonstrate real insight into our clients and what matters to them. Our knowledge of our chosen sectors and markets, and our investment in our client relationships set us apart. We are a natural choice for FTSE100 and other high profile clients.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Assistant Team Leader provides comprehensive operational support to activity in the Transaction Services Team, working closely with another Assistant Team Leader and the Group Lead in our Disputes sub-team. The role is to help manage the continued development and performance of Paralegals and Apprentices and to help identify and act on opportunities for the continued growth of our team.
The Assistant Team Leader will also carry out some fee earning work, though the extent of that may be limited to supporting with our Everlaw platform (see further below).
The Assistant Team Leader will have a focus on the Disputes sub-team but will also have some wider responsibilities within the TST. Whilst we have a preference for this role to be Leeds based, we would also consider Manchester. You may be required to travel to our other UK offices as part of your role, and travel between our Manchester and Leeds offices is likely to be required more regularly (perhaps once per fortnight).

DUTIES

The following list of duties is not exhaustive but gives a flavour of what the Assistant Team Leader might undertake:
Work Allocation
Taking instructions from internal clients, ensuring requirements are understood and allocating appropriate resource within the Disputes sub-team
Having primary responsibility for work allocation amongst, and the delivery of work by, their subteam
Ensuring that work is delivered effectively and efficiently
Implementing and carrying out quality assurance checks on tasks undertaken by the sub-team
Line Management
Leading an identified team of Apprentices Paralegals from across the Disputes sub-team.
Providing coaching and regular feedback, and carrying out regular check ins to develop, encourage and motivate those individuals
Taking responsibility for individual Paralegal and team development plans
Working with the TST Leadership Team to provide a consistent approach to performance management and to ensure the resourcing needs of the whole team are considered
