Description:

This Assistant Technical Officer post offers an exciting opportunity to develop your laboratory skills. As a Band 3 Assistant Technical Officer, you will participate in the laboratory testing procedures and provide technical support to Scientific staff within the Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology department.
We are an IBMS accredited training laboratory committed to education, training and clinical excellence. We offer excellent training programmes for IBMS registration and specialist portfolios and beyond. All staff are actively encouraged to develop themselves and assist in the education of others.

You will be responsible for receipt of pathology specimens and preparation for analysis. Also you will be running the analysers, including completing any required maintenance and processing patients samples, under the guidance of Biomedical Scientists. You will assist in training staff within the department.

The Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology laboratory at Peterborough City Hospital is part of the recently formed North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. Peterborough, the green city of the East of England, offers a thriving city with a rich history and very affordable living. Peterborough also boasts excellent transport links. There are regular trains to London and have easy access to Cambridge, and the rest of Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.
You will also need to be enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible and have good attention to detail. The ideal candidate will also be computer literate and familiar with working to ISO15189 standards. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in a rota which provides extended hours support for the laboratory service.
