About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Assistant Thrift Shop Manager to to lead and develop the store to maximize profits and strengthen links between thrift shops, Community Support Service, wider community and Corps. This role will have supervisory responsibilities of volunteers.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a permanent, part-time (18 hours per week) position based in Golden Square,Victoria. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the General Retail Award.

You will successfully

  • Maximise sales and revenue through processing of donations to the store by receiving, sorting, pricing, hanging of saleable goods and disposal of non-saleable goods
  • Implement stock rotation and stock management processes to ensure optimal store stock levels are maintained to maximize sales and revenue.
  • Provide supervision, training, guidance, direction and feedback to all volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with community and partner agencies.
  • Lead a safe workplace through the ongoing promotion of work health and safety standards.

You will have

  • Experience in team management is essential.
  • Merchandising and store presentation skills.
  • A current Victorian Driver licence.
  • The physical ability to safely sit, stand, walk regularly and for long periods of time.
  • The physical ability to push, pull, lift, carry items up to 10 kilos in weight.
  • The physical ability to climb ladders.
  • Experience managing stock.
  • Retail management experience ( highly desirable).
  • Experience working and managing volunteers (preferred).
  • Basic working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Certificate in Retail Operations / Diploma of Business (desirable).
  • Certificate level qualification in Retail Management (desirable).
