ESSENTIAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Â Strong commercial acumen and interpersonal skills including strong influencing / negotiation skills
  •  Proven track record and Min. 3 years’ experience within the FMCG Retail or Foodservice Trade working within a Trading/ Buying environment.
  • Â Educated to degree level.
  • Â Ability to prioritise workload and differentiate between urgent and important tasks and stay calm under pressure.

SKILLS:

  • Â PC literate in Microsoft applications including Power Point, Word & Excel.
  • Â Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver category sales, margin and profit to budgeted levels and beyond. Analyse weekly performance, report weekly versus budget and forecast and develop practical immediate plans to address shortfalls.
  • Supplier management
  • Implement existing JBPs with key suppliers. Negotiate cost of goods and manage cost increase proposals. Implementation of any regulatory changes within the category. Optimise opportunity around digital for online retail and Food Service.
  • Promotion planning
  • Develop appropriate promotional strategies to drive sales and profitability. Review analysis of promotions with suppliers in order to ensure the strongest sales drivers are being proposed.
  • Range and product strategy
  • Manage the successful implementation of ranges in branches and work with the category planning team to assess commercial performance of current ranges and conduct range reviews including planograms. Develop “Hero categories” and “Premium/Exclusive options” in line with agreed range strategy.
