Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) business unit has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Assembler to join our dynamic team in Sylmar, CA.
Spectrolab is the world’s leading merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar cells for spacecraft power systems, with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as the International Space Station.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Basic computer experience and competency
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or assembly environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Experience using an Optical Microscope

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. high school diploma/GED).

Responsibilities:

  • Performs simple production assembly operations on structural and mechanical assemblies, subassemblies and aircraft systems, equipment and accessories using manual operations
  • Performs the processes necessary for the fabrication and production of Solar Cells, including Photolithography, Cap Etch/Window Clean, Thinning, Lift-Off, Evaporation, Sinter, Saw-Dice, Lot Code, electrical testing, microscope inspection and Silicon Diodes.
  • Performs the processes necessary for growth of semiconductors, including operation of MOCVD vacuum system, Metal Organic material handling and X-Ray Diffraction.
  • Complete knowledge of shop processes to include Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements.
