Description:
Reporting to the VP Medical Services and Chief Medical Officer, the Associate Chief Medical Officer (CMO) – RHA Bed
Doctor is a member of the Regional Management Team and Medical LEADS Team, providing medical leadership and
organizational leadership on both strategic and operational issues, which includes ongoing support, mentorship and
coaching within support services and clinical service programs while supporting the integration of service delivery and
new initiatives throughout the province. The Associate CMO – RHA Bed Doctor also provides oversight of medical
administrative functions supporting the retention and recruitment of physicians, physician/clinical assistants and nurse
practitioners embedded into Northern Health Region (NHR) run medical clinics, as well as ensuring compliance with
professional standards, professional codes of conduct, organizational policies and procedures, and adherence to the
medical staff Bylaws and Rules & Regulations. In addition, the role will be responsible for privileging medical staff in
collaboration with VP Medical Services/CMO and Medical Advisory Council of NHR, complete performance appraisals,
and work on medical staff aspect of improving patient experience. The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of
initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be
taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and
the policies of NHR.
The incumbent must fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry check and
Adult Abuse Registry check, and adhere to all Northern Health Region policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently licensed to practice medicine in the Province of Manitoba, registered with The College of Physicians &
Surgeons of Manitoba and a member of Doctors Manitoba.
- Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Health Administration or Canadian Certified Physician
Executive (CCPE), Physician Leadership Institute Certificate or equivalent an asset.
- Process Improvement training, lean six sigma, project management, change management, EXTRA Certification,
or equivalents an asset.
- Valid Manitoba Class V driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel the region
- Thorough knowledge of Windows based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet
- Two (2) years’ supervisory/management experience
- Two (2) years’ comprehensive experience related to the position
- Experience achieving fiscal targets including preparation and management of budgets.
- Satisfactory employment record required
