Responsibilities:
MAIN DUTIES
The Deputy Year Lead is expected to contribute to the quality improvement of the MBChB Programme by:
- Taking an appropriate role in the training and development of OSCE examiners and clinical tutors.
- Reviewing and responding to student evaluations
- Contributing to the annual MBChB Programme Review
- Contributing to the overall development of the Programme by engagement with external organisations such as the GMC as appropriate
- Keeping abreast of changes in University and National policy with regards to higher education and medical education
The Deputy Year Lead is expected to take a lead in academic support for students in the relevant year by:
- Meeting students who may need additional academic support and guidance
- Meet with students whose absence from the programme is greater than the permitted allowance
- Meeting with students required to re-sit summative assessments and provide guidance
- Meeting with students with unsatisfactory End of Placement Reviews
OTHER DUTIES
- To be a Personal Academic Tutor to medical students
- To be involved in the selection and admission of students, through interviewing, attending Open Days and Offer Holder Visit days
- To be part of the MBChB Research Advice Committee
