Description:

We are seeking an Associate Cloud Network Engineer who is ready to join our fast-paced, ever evolving Cloud Operations (CloudOps) team. ESO’s CloudOps team forms a critical part of our overarching Cloud Engineering Org, which includes an array of Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), Database Administrators (DBAs) and DevOps team members. You’ll dive into the foundations of cloud networking, assisting with virtual networks, subnets, and hybrid connectivity solutions like VPNs and ExpressRoute. You’ll hone your skills in automation, scripting, and monitoring while collaborating with a talented team to troubleshoot issues and improve operational efficiency. With an eye on security and scalability, you’ll contribute to the operation of reliable, stable and secure cloud systems.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING – THE DAY TO DAY

You will be working day-to-day as a member of the CloudOps team within ESO’s Cloud Engineering division. Key responsibilities include:

  • Cloud Networking Foundations: Assist with configuring and managing Azure virtual networks, subnets, NSGs, application gateways, and load balancers while learning hybrid connectivity solutions like VPNs, ExpressRoute, and virtual network peering.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop basic automation scripts using Azure CLI, PowerShell, and scripting languages to manage Azure resources and support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.
  • Operational Excellence: Support routine operational tasks, meet triage SLAs, and contribute to process improvements and documentation.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Gain familiarity with our systems and monitoring solution to diagnose and optimize network performance; participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
  • Security & Compliance: Learn and apply Azure security principles for network design, secure data handling, and best practices for compliance.

WHO YOU ARE - SOME OF THE ESSENTIAL THINGS REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

  • 1+ years in Azure networking experience.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).
  • Exposure to scripting or automation tools such as Azure CLI, PowerShell, Terraform, Azure DevOps or a programming language like Python.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Knowledge of cloud security principles and best practices for managing secure configurations.
