JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Associate Consultant is the core of our managed security business. Working within our virtual 24x7 SOC, this individual supports our clients by monitoring and triaging security alerts and providing guidance and support to our customers in both maintaining security technology and responding to security incidents. This individual will also actively support the creation of customer reports for security operations, asset management, vulnerability and attack surface management, and deep and dark web intelligence. While providing for our clients and their cybersecurity needs, the Associate Consultant will have the ability to learn new skills and grow our business while also growing in knowledge and expertise.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Security, or equivalent experience
  • Strong capability in both written and spoken communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology concepts and skills quickly and ability to operate independently.
  • Desire to support a 4 day/10 hours per day work week, with three days off each week!

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity with MITRE and other relevant security frameworks
  • Security + certification or equivalent
  • Knowledge of relevant security technologies such as EDR, SIEM, IDS, Firewalls, etc.
  • Relevant general IT knowledge in operating systems and networking

Responsibilities:

  • Threat detection and monitoring: Monitor security events and perform triage of potential suspicious events, determining if they are true or false positives and determining criticality. Seek help from more senior consultants as required.
  • Incident Response: Provide incident remediation support and guidance to clients and referrals to our dedicated incident response and forensics team as needed.
  • Technology Management: Perform security technology maintenance and support tasks as required to maintain a high degree of confidence in Kivu’s ability to deliver services and protect our customers.
  • Attack Surface Management: Perform internal and external attack surface discovery and vulnerability scanning as required.
  • Technology Support: Provide timely responses to customer questions, concerns, and requests for changes.
  • Customer Success: Collect data and develop customer facing reports as required
  • Security Engineering: Participate in security projects and assist the team in developing and documenting new security capabilities.
