This is the target annual salary range for this role. This range is not inclusive of other additional compensation elements, such as our Bonus program, Equity program, Wellness allowance, and other benefits [US Only] (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Join our growing legal team working on matters such as advisory work, deal execution & expansion to further Kraken’s mission.
The opportunity
Paper deals of all shapes and sizes across all levels of the organization, from precedent-setting contracts for new lines of business, our largest enterprise SaaS deals and strategic partnerships to one-off freelancer engagements
Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders in understanding and interpreting proposed and final contract terms (both business and legal)
Develop and update form contracts - run your deals, your way
Work and coordinate cross-departmentally with diverse Kraken teams, including: Compliance, Marketing, Finance, Tax, Security, Regional Operations, Business and Corporate Development, as well as with members of Kraken’s executive leadership
Use a highly-regulated and well-resourced environment to your strategic commercial advantage
Develop strategies for addressing risk in business-centric ways and build commercial processes that allow the business flexibility and freedom to move quickly
Skills you should HODL
3-4 years of related experience working at a leading law firm or in-house legal department (especially at a tech or financial services company)
Experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating a variety of commercial and licensing agreements (e.g., SAAS, MSAs, banking, marketing, partnerships, sponsorships, independent contractor)
Admission to practice law in the United States
Experience working with a procurement team
Ability to provide clear, concise legal advice while working cross-functionally with global teams, such as finance, product, marketing, client engagement, compliance and tax
Capacity to understand the broader business context and align risk assessments with the company’s strategic objectives and opportunities to expedite deal closure
You exercise excellent legal judgment with analytic rigor, prudential risk assessment, and a balance of realizable creativity and pragmatism
You are comfortable with risk-adjusted thinking, and can understand when interpretive flexibility is warranted
A “can do” attitude - we create high-quality work on quick timelines
A demonstrated interest in cryptocurrency & Interest in the company culture
Nice to haves
Experience working in a regulated industry, with an emphasis on financial services
Familiarity with privacy laws and regulations
