POSITION OVERVIEW

Salary range: The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $300,000. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The salary range listed is for base compensation only and may be adjusted depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range does not include variable compensation and is subject to the individual department compensation plan.

The University of California, Davis and UC Davis Health seek a collaborative, dynamic, and strategic research leader to serve as the next Associate Dean for Research (ADR) of the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. Reporting to the Dean of the School of Nursing, the ADR will provide leadership, vision, and integrity in the shaping of the School of Nursing research policy and training. They will play an integral part in developing the School’s research mission, fostering collaborative relationships and research initiatives across UC Davis Health, the UC Davis Office of Research, and peers in the other UC Davis colleges and schools.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate degree from an accredited college or university
  • A history of success in an extramurally funded program of research
  • An exemplary track record as an innovative leader in nursing science and/or health sciences research
  • Sustained expertise in federal grant finance and compliance, and the ability to evaluate research proposals and offer feedback
  • Demonstrated vision and experience in health care system designs necessary to achieve goals of an evolving health care delivery system, including the integration with education, research, and practice

Responsibilities:

As a key member of the Dean’s leadership team, the Associate Dean for Research will play an integral role in advancing the research mission of the School of Nursing, fostering collaborative relationships across UC Davis Health and the UC Davis Office of Research, as well as building bridges with other UC Davis colleges, schools, and units. The ADR will also provide input regarding space and resource allocation for School of Nursing research initiatives. Major responsibilities for the ADR include:

  • Providing leadership, vision, and integrity in the shaping of the School of Nursing’s research infrastructure, policy, and training.
  • Developing programming and structures to support increased research productivity within the School, and to enhance research collaborations both within the School and externally.
  • Mentoring and/or consulting with faculty on research issues and processes;
  • Providing leadership and support during grant proposal development and implementation processes.
  • Working with the Finance Manager and Assistant Dean for Administration to ensure compliance and coordinated financial planning.
  • Serving as a liaison enhancing research collaboration and operations between the School of Nursing, the health system, and other Colleges, Schools, and Units on campus.
  • Serving as the School’s Liaison to the Office of Research and Vice Chancellor of Research.
  • Serving as liaison and point of contact with external agencies and

developing relationships with federal grant points of contact.
