THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking an associate director, based in South Africa, to join our growing Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Advisory team. We are ideally looking for someone who has commercial strategy development, organisational change, and delivery model development and execution experience.
HKA’s EMEA Advisory business provides strategic advice to a range of organisations from large government entities, investors, developers and engineering contractors. The team works with clients in South Africa as well as the Middle East and Europe.
Reporting to a Principal within Advisory, you will be responsible for:
- Developing and leading transformation programmes for major infrastructure providers in South Africa.
- Developing innovative infrastructure delivery models (including contracting models and procurement strategies) for major, complex, and/or high-value projects.
- Leading the establishment of collaborative delivery models for some of the EMEA Region’s largest projects and programmes.
- Developing initiatives and contributing to the growth of the business across the EMEA region, with a particular focus on South Africa.
- Leading a team of Senior Consultants and Consultants in South Africa.
Skills and Experience:
We are seeking individuals with proven project experience, in-depth knowledge of construction commercial principles and a willingness to learn and develop.
Ideally you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Degree qualification in engineering, business, quantity surveying, law, commerce, or other relevant discipline.
- Leadership and management skills, with the initiative and eagerness to develop strategies to overcome challenges.
- Willingness to support and contribute to the professional development of others within the team.
- Experience developing and executing business development strategies.
- Experience developing procurement strategies for the commissioning of engineering design, construction or other related services and works.
- Experience with collaborative contracting and incentive regimes.
- Experience developing (with legal support) robust standard form or bespoke contracts, and negotiating with suppliers to achieve competitiveness and risk reduction.
- Experience managing the tendering process from requirements gathering through to contract award, including developing all procurement documentation.
- Ability to create trusted and lasting relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritise and manage your own time in an environment with several competing requirements.
- Sound working knowledge of public sector procurement and probity principles.
Responsibilities:
