About the role
Salary range: $114,000 to $127,000 + Variable compensation
As ATB’s next Associate Director, Commercial Real Estate, you are someone who loves solving problems and connecting with people. You are customer obsessed and leverage your financial skills to find ways to create a meaningful impact on our clients. You bring passion, strong work ethic and a solid foundation to be an advisor internally and externally.
In this exciting role, you will be responsible for risk oversight and portfolio health while maintaining strong client relationships and will act as a key part of the Sales Team to identify revenue opportunities, take leadership, and collaborate across multiple internal teams, including ATB’s credit risk department to meet client needs and ensure flawless execution. You will work closely with the Sales Director to anticipate and respond to clients needs and are key in cultivating those relationships.
Accountabilities

Associate Director Accountabilities:

  • Maintain exceptional portfolio health via the following activities:
  • Structure and preparation of credit assessments / applications;
  • Analyze financial statements and information to assess risk and determine which ATB financial services meet the client’s needs;
  • Understand credit ratings and return assessments together with recommendations regarding impact to profitability and availability of capital;
  • Analyze rent rolls, construction budgets, and Project Monitor reports;
  • Understand Loan to Value (LTV), Costs to Complete/Costs in Place formulas (CTC/CIP) and Loan to Cost (LTC);
  • Financial modeling and sensitivity analysis of projections;
  • Capital structure analysis with recommendations on alternate capital structures;
  • Industry and benchmarking assessments, including key drivers and trends; and
  • Valuation analysis, security analysis with relevant recommendations.
  • Manage a portfolio focusing primarily on the senior debt relationship with the client. By working closely with the Sales Director, identify opportunities to enhance the profitability of the portfolio.
  • Ensure underwriting recommendations are in accordance with sound principles and ATB lending policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrate ownership and oversight with sound credit practices and judgment to mitigate and control risks related to the portfolio.
  • Ensure that ATBs risk appetite, conditions of credit and documentation are maintained.
  • Coach, mentor, and exude leadership qualities as well as acting as one of the primary customer contacts (together with the Sales Director) thereby ensuring customer service expectations and credit quality are maintained.
  • Represent ATB by attending community and industry networking events, focusing on developing industry connections and market intelligence.

Skills, experience & requirements

Characteristics and Attributes:

  • 5+ years of experience including progressively complex roles with a specific focus on corporate finance.
  • Undergraduate degree in business commerce, economics, or a related field.
  • Chartered Financial Analyst accreditation or Graduate level education is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with external clients and internal teammates.
  • Exceptional analytical capability and financial acumen with proven ability to develop financial analysis of mid to large organizations and complex business issues.
  • Excellent priority management with capability to manage multiple transactions, initiatives and daily activity to best meet the needs of the client, internal partners, while mitigating risk.
  • Advanced problem solving skills and ability to take initiative to find and execute innovative solutions.
  • Ability to present complex issues effectively at all levels in the organization and effectively influence others.
