Summary of Position
The Associate Director of Communications will lead and manage significant aspects of the Teladoc Health Canada’s internal and external communications, while working closely and coordinate with the global company’s communications team. This position will be responsible for developing and executing effective communication strategies that elevate Teladoc Health Canada’s brand, strengthen public relations efforts, and engage key stakeholders across Canada. The role will also focus on media relations, corporate communications, crisis management, and aligning communications initiatives with business objectives in a fast-paced and dynamic telehealth environment. This role will collaborate cross-functionally and closely with the enterprise communications team on all initiatives, ensuring compliance with overarching company guidelines and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Communications Strategy: Alongside Teladoc Health Canada’s Head of Marketing and Communications and the enterprise communications team, develop, lead, and implement comprehensive communication strategies to support Teladoc Health Canada’s business objectives, brand awareness, and thought leadership, while maintaining alignment with the enterprise messaging, brand standards, and reputation management.
- Public Relations: Manage media relations and outreach, including press releases, media pitches, and crisis communications. Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, industry influencers, and public stakeholders.
- Corporate Communications: Oversee Teladoc Health Canada’s internal communications, ensuring alignment with global messaging, brand standards, and reputation management strategies, and support employee engagement initiatives through newsletters, town halls, and executive communications.
- Crisis and Issues Management: Working under the leadership of the enterprise communications team, manage and mitigate reputational risks and, where appropriate, act as the point of contact for crisis communication and media inquiries. Develop and implement protocols to manage potential issues and safeguard the company’s reputation alongside the enterprise team.
- Content Development (50%): Lead the creation of compelling content, including press materials, speeches, articles, social media, and blog posts that effectively communicate Teladoc Health Canada’s mission, products, and services.
- Stakeholder Engagement (10%): Work closely with leadership to support their public appearances, media interviews, and speaking engagements. Develop talking points and position statements to ensure consistency and clarity in messaging.
- Brand Management (10%): Ensure that all communications uphold and enhance the Teladoc Health Canada brand in the Canadian market, maintaining a consistent tone and messaging across all channels.
- Digital Communications (10%): Work alongside digital marketing team to manage online communications, including social media and website content, to engage a broad audience and highlight key company initiatives.
- Measurement & Reporting (5%): Develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns. Provide regular reports to senior leadership on communication activities and outcomes.
- Collaboration (10%): To ensure consistency and alignment across business units, maintain regular communication with multiple stakeholders, including complete collaboration with and PR approval by the global communications team.
- Special projects (5%): Additional duties may be assigned by the manager as needed to support the evolving needs of the organization.

Qualifications Expected for Position
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing journalism, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or a similar role, preferably within the healthcare or government sectors.
- Proven track record of developing and managing successful communications strategies across various formats and channels.
- Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly marketing to hospital systems and B2B clients.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with a portfolio showcasing diverse content.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with leadership, marketing, and other stakeholders and manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing external vendors and agencies for content production.
- Strong media relations skills and experience managing public relations in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis communication and issues management.
- Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare landscape and regulatory environment is a plus.
- Experience in managing digital communication channels and platforms.
- Bilingualism in French and English is a strong asset, as it will enable effective communication with diverse stakeholders across Canada.
