As an Associate Director heading the Critical Reagents Team within Bioanalysis at Johnson & Johnson, you will play a key role in the development of assays to support J&J’s pipeline. This is an outstanding opportunity to lead, innovate, and significantly impact the drug portfolio across all therapeutic areas. You will contribute to our nonclinical and clinical studies, ensuring we continue to succeed at the highest levels.
Primary responsibilities:
- Work in a regulated environment under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy
- Provide technical guidance to your team and ensure continuous supply of reagents for J&J’s internal bioanalytical laboratories and external partners. Develop the strategy for quality control of the reagents that the team delivers.
- Supervise the staff’s daily activities for protein purification, conjugation, characterization and quality control, managing resources and balancing work between the internal lab and external providers.
- Handle the performance and career development of the team, encouraging a collaborative and inclusive environment.
- Serve on cross-functional teams, act as an authority and key contact between internal and external teams and communicate technical information within the organization in a clear and concise manner.
- Contribute to external scientific associations, publications, and presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- MS degree with 10+ years of relevant experience required
- Ph.D. degree with 5+ years of relevant experience preferred
Required:
- Proficiency in protein purification (affinity, ion-exchange, or size exclusion chromatography)
- Familiarity with conjugation methods (NHS ester conjugation or thiol conjugation)
- Experience in monoclonal and polyclonal antibody generation
- Expertise in protein analytical techniques (HPLC, SDS-PAGE, High Res. MS, Octet, or SPR)
- Understanding of molecular cloning, mammalian cell transfection, and expression and hybridoma screening approaches and phage display techniques for antibody discovery and development
- Knowledge of bioanalytical techniques such as ECLIA and LC-MS in a GXP environment
- Ability to challenge the status quo and implement continuous change
Preferred:
- Management experience, including supervision and direction of scientific staff
