Description:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director of Academic Advising will be a leader in the Office of Centralized Advising and Academic Success. They will be responsible for advising outcomes and special projects. As such, they will need to coordinate with Enrollment Management, Deans’ Offices, Chairs, and other campus constituents. They will prioritize that students receive a welcoming and seamless transition into Manhattan College. The Associate Director will be able to work independently and in collaboration with stakeholders. This position is available through a Title V grant.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored advising to a caseload of 125-175 students, maintaining individual student records
  • Supervise a team of academic advisors
  • Create guidance to effectively prioritize advising meetings and triage students’ needs
  • Promote a successful transition for incoming and transfer students into Manhattan College and onto their faculty advisors
  • Lead project areas that include developing transfer credit equivalency platforms and processes
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to advising structures
  • Serve as an advising representative on committees for specific student populations (e.g. NCAA athletes compliance, Veterans, etc.)
  • Serve as an information source for students, faculty, and staff by maintaining knowledge of articulation agreements and other advising regulations
  • Develop, administer, and collaborate on orientation and other programming efforts
  • Coordinate the development of web pages and public facing resources
  • Participate in professional development to ensure MC is following evidence-based and best practices in advising and student support
  • Work one alternative schedule each week to facilitate evening opening hours until 6:00pm
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience

  • Master’s degree required
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Previous experience working in a higher education academic advising setting
  • Three to five years of experience working with Hispanic, Pell-eligible and other URM students
  • Experience working with Ellucian Banner, DegreeWorks, Starfish, and MS Excel preferred
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Supervisory experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules a plus
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as required

The salary range for this position is $75,000-90,000
