Salary £70,000.00
Contracts are offered on an initial 6-month probationary period.
Annual Leave Allowance: 27 days per year (pro rata for part-time and contracted staff).

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a significant role with responsibility for ensuring that the College has a strong, modern approach to its membership engagement, brand, and marketing activities as well as compelling and innovative online and offline content. Reporting to the Executive Director of Membership, Policy & External Affairs (MP&EA), as the Associate Director of Membership Engagement, you will manage teams that are responsible for:

  • Developing and delivering an outstanding experience for members through improved support and prompt and friendly customer service for the College’s growing numbers of members and fellows in the UK and internationally
  • Developing and delivering a busy agenda of high-impact events to support member learning, networking and development both domestically and internationally
  • Communications planning and delivery online and offline, championing and guiding the College brand and engaging with members and other audiences
  • Executing marketing strategies to support the successful promotion of the range of RCPCH activities
  • Developing initiatives that drive engagement, organisation-wide collaboration & deliver continuous improvement

A highly strategic individual with in-depth knowledge and experience of membership services, communications and engagement, insights and marketing, you will translate this into robust recommendations for action and strategies, responsive to the needs of the College.
Alongside technical expertise, you will be able to work with colleagues to solve problems, dismantle barriers, and get things done at a time of significant change for the College. In order to do this well, you will need to have an open, generous, ‘can-do’ attitude and a desire to get things done. In key meetings you will be the voice of the member and approaches best represent a member-focused college.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Lead and develop the College’s membership engagement strategy and activity to drive engagement with our members, tracking progress and being responsive to insights to change course.
  2. Lead on communications planning for the College, overseeing multiple channels to drive engagement and impact with College content.
  3. Utilise strong stakeholder management expertise to collaborate with the Membership Committee, Registrar, and President on strategic membership and engagement issues. Reporting regularly to the Membership Committee, Council, Senior Leadership Team, and Executive Committee on progress of membership and engagement strategies, ensuring that teams have appropriate KPIs to aid regular progress and success reporting.
  4. Drive the creation and continuous improvement of the member value proposition for all membership categories through effective partnerships with divisions across the College, key partners and most critically our members.
  5. Seek and apply member feedback, research, and data to recommend changes and enhancements that deliver better value and improve member satisfaction, growth, retention, and revenue.
  6. Oversee and lead on the College’s membership, creative, brand and marketing strategies, with oversight of work plans for relevant teams, committees and working groups in line with the College and divisional strategies and annual operational plan.
  7. Lead the delivery of our digital first approach to communications activities, taking best advantage of multimedia channels of communication.
  8. Identify opportunities to support and grow our membership through responsive membership services and a cutting-edge events portfolio.
  9. Work with the Executive Director for MP&EA and the relevant Officers in the Division to ensure a transparent and proactive approach to your work areas, utilising relevant committees and working groups to promote effective decision making, strategic planning, prioritisation and collaborative working practices.
  10. Fostering cross-functional collaboration, working with other divisions to align our communications and engagement activity to ensure the positive impact of our offering is actively communicated to members and other audiences.
  11. Responsible for membership and annual conference income, and seeking out opportunities for growth as well as delivering activity on budget on identified activities to maximise influence and impact.
  12. Provide line management and leadership to the creative, content, brand, marketing, membership and events functions to inform, inspire and motivate teams.
  13. Be a member of the College-wide Extended Leadership Network (ELN). Be a member of the MP&EA Divisional Management Team, contributing to the overall strategic development and management of the Division, and work effectively and openly with your fellow senior managers, finding opportunities to support activities across teams.
