WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking for exceptional people who are excited to join a rapidly growing organization, are compelled by our mission, and who have diverse backgrounds and experiences. For this role, we are looking for someone to bring their business development and relationship-building skills to help create opportunities for low-income and underrepresented students.

  • You bring a proven history of results. You have prior fundraising and/or corporate relations experience.
  • You are entrepreneurial with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a talent for building strong and productive relationships with all Code2College stakeholders.
  • You have a knack for communication and can effectively invest external stakeholders in our mission to support our shared success.
  • You lead with inquiry and curiosity. You take the time to build context and understand “the why” of the work.
  • You thrive in ambiguity, and you create your own clarity by asking critical questions to get the information you need.
  • You prioritize outcomes over inputs and “why” over “what.” You are driven by goals and data, and you see outcomes as your north star. You consistently align yourself to the “why” of the work to determine the how and the what.
  • You are solutions-oriented. You look for the root cause and move others toward solutions through innovative problem solving. You know how to identify pain points and improve on work, while honoring the work of those before you.
  • You are culturally competent. You have worked with underrepresented communities and you have a history of effectively working across lines of difference. Your actions reflect that you are deeply committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additionally, you will thrive at Code2College if you embody our core values which are:

  • Resourcefulness: we’re a lean startup and none of us are experts; there are so many opportunities to leverage relationships, free and low-cost resources and communal assets to the betterment of our students and organization.
  • Urgency: the work that we do is important and every moment is an opportunity to change the lives of our students.
  • Transparency: we are candid with each other, share challenges as well as triumphs and have an orientation toward learning from our mistakes by talking about them openly.
  • Humility: every success is a team success and we’re stronger as one unit; none of us can do this without the support of others.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • 2+ years experience in relationship management such as; corporate/external relations, engagement, board development, or fundraising for a non-profit or educational institution.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in people management or in a team-lead capacity developing junior team members
  • Minimum 2 years experience in donor relations, grant writing and/or Sales.
  • Demonstrated success in soliciting and closing major corporate and individual gifts with a proven track record of submitting successful proposals and personally achieving success.
  • Successful experience in relationship development; building personal trust, loyalty, & making successful grant proposal presentations.
  • Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and major gifts fundraising.
  • Limited in-person event support.
  • Exceptionally strong communication, project management and time management skills.
  • High level of comfort taking and implementing frequent feedback to improve the work.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work well with people with a very wide diversity of demographic and cultural characteristics; must be capable of achieving results while maintaining an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.
  • Passion to work at an organization that is minority-led and focused on serving underrepresented minorities.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
