JOB DESCRIPTION:

Seasoned manager that oversees multiple teams of entry and mid-level engineers. Effectively coaches, mentors, grows, and empowers entry and mid-level engineers and engineering chapter to deliver leading technology solutions that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, secure, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives across Sun Life International (SLI). Has strategic focus while contributing to the development of valued solutions based off of business outcomes and objectives across SLI. Participates as member of the management team that contributes to the development of strategies, goals, and measures for Sun Life International IT. Contributes and influences the development of a strategy to identify, evaluate, and capitalize on opportunities to improve delivery results, advance engineering abilities, provide competitive advantage, drive efficiency, improve quality and performance. Retains and attracts top diverse talent and drives a continuous improvement mindset while continuously raising the bar. Manages departmental structure, employee development, training and planning. Expected to spend ~70% of time coaching, mentoring, growing and developing your people.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to apply, teach, and coach leading testing skills, tools/frameworks, techniques, processes and principles to software solutions in support of defect management, automation, diagnosis and reporting in a complex production environment
  • Leading knowledge of performance testing coding best practices, and load and performance testing with ability to apply, teach and coach
  • Familiarity of architectural patterns to drive improvements and influence application performance, reliability, and scale across SLI
  • Effectively utilize, influence, drive, and continuously improve multiple automation testing software development and deployment methodologies, processes, development best practices and DevOps/DevSecOps principles across SLI
  • Remain current with technology trends and drive change across SLI
  • Leading understanding of application security and security best practices with ability to apply, teach and coach
  • Lead code reviews and validate vulnerability fixes; ability to sign off on any features; lead a continuous learning environment, innovation, and creativity across SLI
  • Leading knowledge of functional specifications with ability to write, teach, and coach
  • Recognized as a leader among peers, team, and in the industry
  • Effectively mentor, grow, and empower entry and mid-level engineers and engineering chapter across SLI

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively coach, mentor, grow, and empower entry and mid-level engineers and engineering chapter to deliver leading technology solutions that are high-quality, innovative, efficient, secure, creative, scalable, adaptable, dynamic, fully performing and comply with all standards and best practices in support of business and Client outcomes and objectives across SLI
  • Execute full test automation software and product development life cycle (SDLC) and lead continuous improvements across SLI
  • Develop leading deliverables to deliver technical solution(s) seeking business and Client feedback across SLI
  • Integrate leading software components into a fully functional software system
  • Develop leading software verification (testing) plans and quality assurance procedures
  • Document and maintain industry leading technical solution functionality
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
  • Deploy industry leading programs and evaluate business and Client feedback
  • Ensure software is updated with latest features
  • Proven leader in code reviews, ability to approve any features, and validate vulnerability fixes
  • Proven ability to write functional specifications for any features
  • Effectively mentor and champion other engineers
  • Retain and attract top diverse engineering talent
  • Coach and empower team(s) to define and explore future leading/best-in-class technology roadmaps across Sun Life International IT
