PPD, our clinical research business, has an opening for an Associate Director, Strategic Finance to support client accounts as a lead, acting as a single point of contact to address custom projects. The Strategic Finance Team helps develop PPD’s pricing constructs and strategy, including the development and negotiation of commercial terms and pricing models for key customer partnerships.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous finance experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 8+ years’ experience)
  • 3-5 years of management responsibility
  • MBA Degree (preferred but not required)
  • In some cases an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional skills in financial analysis, modeling, and budgeting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills (including research, reporting and analytical skills)
  • Strategic and creative thinking
  • Strong written and oral English communications skills
  • Ability to exercise judgment and decision-making skills through financial research and analysis
  • Ability lead and handle large project teams including setting goals, presenting plans, supervising progress, and achieving results in a high-performing team environment
  • Proactive leader with strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity
  • Strong customer relationship management skills
  • Strong organizational agility and demonstrated drive for results
  • Consistent track record of facilitating dynamic organizational change and development within a growing organization
  • Shown experience influencing and negotiating to establish credibility and trust with staff across the business
  • Experience within the drug development or CRO industry preferre

Responsibilities:

  • Apply critical thinking and financial analysis to help build value for PPD
  • Quickly develop a solid understanding of PPD’s service offerings, commercial constructs and pricing strategy to help analyze how these components best drive financial results.
  • Manage assigned client relationships and will collaborate closely internally to problem solve items as they relate to finance and will respond to financial reporting and other reporting needs.
  • Lead corporate-wide business analysis efforts to provide decision support to key business leaders regarding the financial and operational impact of strategic decisions.
  • Work well across the organization to provide insight and analysis into our pricing strategy and business performance (e.g. working with Operations and Commercial Finance, FP&A, corporate development, and business development on key growth initiatives.
  • Ability to negotiate with external and internal partners around deal structures and partnership objectives.
