THE OPPORTUNITY

The Scope Magazine team is seeking a highly engaged, curious, team-oriented writer and editor to participate in all facets of ideating, creating, and producing Scope, our flagship print and digital middle school resource for English Language Arts. This person will be a key member of our small, close-knit and deeply committed team, ready to immerse themselves in the world of middle schoolers and their teachers.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute fresh multimedia story ideas to engage middle schoolers, build knowledge, and support curriculum
  • Research and write short articles, video scripts, and departmental features such as infographics, debates, and more.
  • Write support materials, including quizzes, vocabulary glossaries and activities, graphic organizers, and other skill-building activities.
  • Assist with monthly update of digital resources, working closely with managing editor and members of the digital team
  • Travel for school visits and professional learning opportunities
  • Assist with management of teacher advisor program and social media
  • Develop a keen understanding of middle school pedagogy and trends, as well as the interests and needs of early adolescents.
