ASSOCIATE, EMEA MORGAN STANLEY INCLUSIVE VENTURES LAB TEAM - 3256231

We’re seeking someone to join as an Associate in the EMEA Morgan Stanley Inclusive Ventures Lab team.
The Morgan Stanley Inclusive Ventures Lab is the bank’s in-house startup accelerator promoting financial inclusion and providing access to capital for early-stage technology and technology-enabled companies. The team’s mission is to create a more inclusive investment landscape by providing a unique opportunity for disruptive startups to access capital, accelerate their business and increase their visibility.

What you’ll do in the role:

The associate role in the EMEA Morgan Stanley Inclusive Ventures Lab team is multifaceted, due to the dynamic nature of the group’s initiatives. In general, the associate will:

  • Support day-to-day interaction with the entrepreneurs that are part of the Lab cohort or portfolio companies of the Lab
  • Assist the broader team, including Entrepreneurs in Residence, in providing critical operational, analytical and strategic insights to help accelerate the growth of the Lab companies
  • Help identify entrepreneur networks/startups/investment opportunities for the future programs
  • Perform detailed trend/market research and develop expertise across specific themes/sectors
  • Identify relevant startup events/conferences and help organise group events as needed (e.g., demo day, pitch competitions)
  • Coordinate tactical components and logistics of the program and assist in the onboarding of mentors and speakers to the program
  • Create standard and custom executive reporting packages/presentations on a monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc basis as needed
  • Synthesize various analyses into meaningful deliverables/presentations for senior management and external stakeholders
  • Provide support to senior management in broadening Morgan Stanley’s founder community engagement and Venture Capital universe coverage

QUALIFICATIONS

What you’ll bring to the role:

The ideal candidate has a fundamental knowledge of both financial products and financial analysis as well as the startup ecosystem and can manage large, multidimensional projects.

  • Analytical skills with a fundamental understanding of corporate finance principals. Financial modeling skills a plus
  • Experience in creating investment memos and / or evaluating companies for investment
  • Execution skills with the ability to manage projects with minimal supervision. High attention to detail is critical in addition to sound judgment and the ability to fully operate on occasion with general to limited context
  • Writing, communication (both internal and external) and presentation delivery skills are critical
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a significant workload and work well under pressure
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite, with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proactive self-starter and creative problem solver with a keen interest in in developments around technology, startups, entrepreneurship and venture capital
  • Knowledge of impact investing/sustainable sector helpful but not required
