Description:
As the academic medical center and University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center is nationally recognized for clinical excellence—breaking new ground in research, training the next generation of healthcare leaders, and delivering science-driven, patient-centered care. Montefiore is ranked among the top hospitals nationally and regionally by U.S. News & World Report. For more than 100 years we have been innovating new treatments, new procedures and new approaches to patient care, producing stellar outcomes and raising the bar for medical centers in the region and around the world. As we build on this momentum, we continue to advance the practice of medicine and set the standard for excellence. To help achieve these goals Montefiore is recruiting for an Associate General Counsel to provide expertise, create efficiencies, realize financial savings, and add value for our Clinicians and Associates.

In this crucial role, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of legal matters including general healthcare issues, contract negotiations and commercial transactions, IT and intellectual property matters, patient care issues, clinical service arrangements, corporate governance and structuring, regulatory compliance, medical staff privileges and credentialing issues, internal investigations and administrative proceedings, litigation oversight, government audits and investigations, policy formulation and advice, HIPAA and privacy issues, and physician practice acquisitions.
To qualify, you must be licensed to practice law in the state of New York and have at least 10 years of significant legal work experience, primarily in healthcare and transactional work, either as in-house counsel or external legal counsel to healthcare organizations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as are strong client service, problem solving, project management, and negotiation capabilities.
