PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Experience with ODD and/or Hedge Fund Operations/Accounting. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of direct ODD experience.
  • CAIA and/or other similar financial markets related designation preferred, or desire to achieve such designations.
  • Knowledge of financial products, such as equity, fixed income, foreign exchange, listed derivatives, and OTC derivatives.
  • Good understanding of the risks inherent within fund investments and financial instruments.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful with proven ability to stay organized and manage work in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills as well as excellent inter-personal skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work in an international, multicultural environment.
  • Possess a proactive, positive, and adaptable approach to work.

Responsibilities:

The Hedge Fund Operational Due Diligence Associate will be responsible for supporting the initial and ongoing operational due diligence (ODD) reviews of predominately third-party alternative investment managers and administrators to highlight any concern that could affect the integrity of clients’ investments.

The Hedge Fund Operational Due Diligence Associate’s primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist the lead ODD Specialist in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating operational risks associated with potential investments. Review results of background checks on investment managers, escalating internally or researching further, as needed.
  • Produce ongoing ODD reports, including quarterly fund board reports, regular client updates, and analyses of the subjects’ operations, capabilities, and risk management.
  • Prepare and present detailed initial due diligence reports, summarizing findings and providing recommendations to internal committees.
  • Document the causes, solutions, and future prevention plans for operational risk events, such as trade errors, data breaches, and investment guideline violations.
  • Monitor the operational performance of underlying investments on a regular basis to ensure adherence to industry best practices and help identify any emerging risks.
  • Update profiles for subjects in the internal system based on new information gathered from initial and ongoing reviews.
  • Participate in the annual review of the internal control reports for subjects, such as the SOC1 report.
  • Liaise with clients and fund managers with respect to ODD inquiries.
  • Contribute to improving and automating due diligence processes with industry best practices.
