Are you an emerging litigator ready to advance your career? We are seeking a motivated Junior Litigation Associate to join our Calgary team. The ideal candidate will have 2 – 5 years experience in construction litigation, property and professional indemnity claims and general insurance defence.
In this role, you will independently manage your own files while benefiting from the mentorship of experienced senior counsel on more complex cases. The focus of your practice will be in construction, property and professional indemnity; however, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a diverse range of matters, including commercial litigation, cybersecurity, transportation, employment law, bodily injury and indigenous law.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing all phases of litigated cases independently, while receiving guidance and mentorship from senior counsel.
  • Conducting questionings, mediations, and chambers applications with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Assisting senior counsel on complex and high-profile matters, contributing to strategic case management.
  • Overseeing practice and client relations, ensuring effective communication and strong client service.
  • Engaging in business development activities and working on enhancing your professional profile to drive growth and visibility.
  • Achieving both billable and non-billable targets, contributing to the firm’s overall performance and success.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship within the team, fostering a collaborative environment and supporting the development of junior colleagues.

What will help you succeed in this role?:

  • Licensed to practice law in Canada and a Member in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta.
  • 2 – 5 years of experience in construction litigation, property and professional indemnity claims and general insurance matters, demonstrating a solid foundation in relevant legal practices.
  • Exceptional proficiency in English, with strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team, maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and a busy litigation practice while efficiently coordinating with team members.
