  • Qualifications and Expertise: Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent.
  • Leadership and Teamwork: Proven leadership skills, ability to coordinate and support nursing staff, and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care.
  • Clinical Competence and Experience: Extensive experience in managing complex mental health needs, supervising nursing staff, and implementing change management in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of mental health nursing theories, quality improvement systems, relevant legislation, and advanced computer literacy in clinical systems like CBIS and EPAS.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a skilled mental health professional looking to step into a leadership position? As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) in the Cramond Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), you will play a key role in supporting the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in leading a dedicated team of mental health nurses. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, specialist mental health care to consumers with complex needs, while also driving consistency and continuity of care within the unit. Your responsibilities will include assisting with unit management tasks such as rostering, recruitment, performance management, and work allocation, as well as implementing practice changes to enhance care delivery.
In this dynamic role, you’ll provide direct and comprehensive nursing care, engage in individual case management, and lead education, counselling, and group work to support consumer health and recovery. As a clinical leader, you’ll mentor and develop less experienced staff, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external organisations.
