Description:

  • Please note this post will be closed early once a sufficient amount of applications have been received *
An opportunity has arisen for at part time Associate Practitioner to join our team in the Pathology Laboratory. Although working primarily in Biochemistry and Immunology, the successful applicant may also be required to work flexibly across the Blood Sciences laboratories according to service needs.
North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides acute hospital services to the population of East Durham, Hartlepool and Stockton-On-Tees. The Biochemistry department is located at the North Tees site. The department processes in-patient, outpatient and GP requests.
The pathology departments at NTH and STH are, however, working collaboratively to develop a joint service with services being delivered on both hospital sites. This will require cross site working as appropriate.
Whilst posts may be based at the James Cook University Hospital site or University Hospital of North Tees site you may be expected to work between all sites with a Laboratory service (e.g., also Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, Hartlepool Hospital etc.) on a rotational basis, to meet the needs of the service.
Assisting the Biomedical Science team by processing Biochemistry samples and assisting with Immunology sample pre-analytical procedures.
Good communications skills, teamwork and an aptitude for problem solving are essential, as is a flexible attitude to work and willingness to adapt to changes in working practice.
Flexible working is a requirement for this post and the department operates a 24 hour shift system including weekend, bank holiday and night shifts at agenda for change rates. The successful applicant will be expected to participate fully in this rota after suitable training.
The Department has UKAS accreditation and IBMS training approval and has a well-established CPD programme
At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.
We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition – a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.
We recruit for values and “Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool”
