Description:
We are currently recruiting an Associate Principal Scientist to join our team based in Alderley park.
As an Associate Principal Scientist in the Analytical Sciences team, you will be working closely with other members of the team managing both commercial and R&D projects, ensuring these are performed to a high standard and within scheduled time-frames. In addition, as a visible leader in the group, utilising excellent communication, organisational and technical skills, you will support the training and development of staff, improving the team’s knowledge and processes.

Salary: £44,000 plus excellent benefits

Key Responsibilities:
Scientific
- To be a senior point of contact within the group for operational and scientific support across all routine assays (troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation).
- To drive assay development and validation with input into the R+D strategy of the group.
- To provide practical scientific guidance to others, to meet project goals, and regularly presenting findings.
- To identify opportunities for and lead cross functional collaboration.
- To maintain an awareness of team’s priorities to support effective planning of group’s resources for commercial and R&D deadlines.
- To support routine high-throughput screening and bespoke assays when required.
- To design assays to support bespoke study requests from internal and external partners
- To provide expert scientific support for the wider company for Analytical Sciences.
- To keep up to date with scientific literature advances, developments, and regulatory guidelines in the area of Analytical Science and inform the team of relevant developments.
- To ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean and in proper working order on completion of assigned tasks.
- To ensure that all errors and erroneous results are reported to your supervisor with minimal delay.
- To ensure accurate and complete documentation of all activities as required by relevant SOPs and Quality policies.

- To coach, mentor and line manage other members of the team by effective use of Evotalks meetings, regular 1to1 discussions and ad hoc interactions.
- To celebrate successes and to acknowledge and address challenges within the team.

- To be responsible for managing and coordinating multiple projects/activities within the group with a results-driven approach.
- To ensure work is performed to an exceptionally high standard, within specified time frames, ensuring QC procedures are strictly adhered to.

- To encourage a continuous improvement culture and to manage projects to completion.
- To participate in internal and external partner meetings as and when required.
- To provide relevant information around resource and equipment requirements to assist HoF/PS/VP in preparation of the annual budget proposal.
Self
- To ensure appropriate Health and Safety procedures are always followed in the workplace
- To participate in all mandatory training required to perform effectively in job role
- To ensure that your personal training record is up to date and that any gaps are discussed with your supervisor.
- To complete timesheets on time and in accordance with guidance from Finance.
- To actively participate in Evotalks and agree on personal targets and expectations with supervisor.
- Any other task that may reasonably be requested by your supervisor.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package for all permanent employees.
- Pension on completion (but not subject to) of your 3-month probationary period. Contributions 5% for employees (salary sacrifice) and 5% for the employer. The employee can opt to increase their contribution and the employer will match the increase up to a maximum of 7.5%.
