Building & Design Services are Hull City Councils Construction Consultancy Department providing a comprehensive range of construction services covering Operational, Commercial, Corporate, and Housing portfolios and include architecture, building and quantity surveying, mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering, landscape architecture, statutory compliance, property maintenance, asset management and land surveying.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, efficient, professional, and motivated individual reporting to the Head of Service - Capital Projects. You will primarily be responsible for the line management of the M&E Design section providing mechanical engineering Building Services design and advice as part of a multi-disciplinary team or for bespoke engineering projects; carrying out detailed feasibility studies; specialist advice including statutory requirements relating to building services to colleagues and clients; supervision of contractors on site specific to services design and implementation.
Supporting your role will involve monitoring the M&E Design team’s resources, providing input into project delivery processes, assessing new project requests, using computer aided design, undertaking site surveys, providing building services reports, organising utility connections, preparing accurate estimates of building services elements. Cose liaison with Building & Design Associate Professional Leads of other disciplines will be required for the programme of projects and for overall design discipline project and quality control processes.
Candidates shall have a proven experience in a similar role and a thorough working knowledge of the associated legislation, British Standards and Building Regulations is essential.
