Responsibilities:

We are inviting applications for the position of Associate Professor in Embedded and Smart Systems. The candidate must have a strong academic background with a qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and a proven teaching, research, or industrial portfolio in areas such as electronic circuits, including PCB and circuit design, simulation, and the use of design/simulation software and tools for measurement and testing. The candidate should also have expertise in Embedded Systems, including experience with microcontrollers/platforms (e.g., Arduino, PIC, Raspberry Pi), processor selection, peripheral mapping, ADCs, interrupts, and programming. Knowledge of data communications, including serial data comms, SPI, and I2C, is essential. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in control systems, embedded control system design, implementation, algorithms, programming, debugging, and real-time application use.
Expertise in Smart/Intelligent Systems, including data acquisition/processing, IoT, and decision-making techniques (AI, machine learning, optimization, and neural networks), is also required. Experience in CDIO implementation or project-based delivery is highly desirable. Candidates should be eligible for Fellow or Senior Fellow status under the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Standards Framework (FHEA/SFHEA).
This position involves not only ground-breaking research but also a strong emphasis on teaching and leadership within the college. We seek someone who is flexible, reliable, and able to work well in teams, with proven postgraduate-level mathematical and analytical skills, along with experience in computational simulation and the use of Matlab or other relevant software
