Description:

The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Aarhus University, invites highly
qualified applicants for an associate professor position in Precision animal production management and phenotyping from 1 April 2025.

WE EXPECT THE CANDIDATE TO MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency in advanced data analysis and system modelling, including development of new phenotypes.
  • Extensive experience in evaluating sensor technology for its applicability in livestock monitoring and management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of animal production systems, management practices, and animal welfare considerations and how to combine technology and phenotypes.
  • Proven track record of disseminating research findings to relevant academic and industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Identification of phenotypes for improved livestock herd management
  • Development of early warning systems: utilise technology to derive valuable phenotypic information, facilitating early detection of diseases and other adverse conditions in livestock.
  • Analysis of management impact: explore the influence of management practices on animal resilience, contributing to the enhancement of management strategies.
  • Creation of smart solutions: develop technical solutions aimed at improving sustainability and support decision-making processes within animal production.
  • Develop concepts for new research with research and industry partners to secure external funding.
  • Research and evidence-based dissemination to industry and society within the area of expertise.
  • Expert consultancy to the Danish authorities.
  • Teach and supervise at Bachelor, Master and PhD levels.
