Context:
Are you an experienced and passionate Rail Transport Planning Consultant? If so, we want to hear from you as we continue to grow our Rail Consultancy Team in Ireland with an opportunity at Principal to Associate Director level, the role will be pivotal in the delivery of exciting recent project wins and an ever growing pipeline. This is a key role for an experienced rail economist or planner to guide our clients at feasibility stages of key strategic change projects for the rail infrastructure industry in Ireland. The role is ideally Dublin based and benefits from the flexibility of hybrid working.
Missions/Main Duties:
The successful candidate will be an experienced rail economist, planner or similar with a proven track record in undertaking cost benefit appraisal (CBA), producing business cases for rail and transport improvement projects and supporting the early stage development of this type of investment. They will have expertise in the use of the Irish Department of Transport’s TAF framework.
They will support the development and growth of our key markets in Ireland by leading and undertaking CBA and Business Case work for clients such as Irish Rail and the National Transport Authority. This will involve working closely with our team in Ireland and the UK to deliver high-quality strategy and business case work for clients, leading the team on specific tasks and projects where appropriate. They will also contribute to successful tenders for future work.
The role will involve significant levels of client interaction, working with client representatives to agree the scope of work and timelines for delivery, and liaising regularly work process.
Profile/Skills:
- A relevant degree (economics, maths, transport economics, etc).
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (desirable).
- Expertise in railway and transport planning and economics
- Expertise in using and applying the Irish Department of Transport’s Transport Appraisal Framework (TAF).
- Proven track record of delivering high-quality project work
- Ability to contribute to successful tenders for work
- Highly numerate and competent in the use of Microsoft Excel
- Appreciation of Rail operations principles and application
- Appreciation of the type of engineering work conducted during the early stages of rail enhancement projects
- Team leadership and line management experience
