ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum five years’ experience in undergraduate and/or graduate student academic advising on program and course requirements in a university setting.
- Experience advising undergraduate and graduate students on financial aid and award matters.
- Experience assessing petitions and/or appeals.
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting and applying complex academic policies and procedures to a variety of complex and/or unusual situations and problems.
- Experience in academic success programming; designing, delivering and evaluating student experience initiatives, programs and events, including targeting students at-risk.
- Experience in facilitating partnerships with constituents from a variety of institutional functional areas (students, student leaders, student societies, staff, faculty, administration).
- Experience recruiting, training and mentoring student staff.
- Experience with evaluation and research tools, and demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize data.
- Extensive knowledge and practical application of student development and learning theory.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel; Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with a student information. system (such as ROSI – Repository of Student Information), eMarks, Symplicity and Degree Explorer essential.
- Demonstrated leadership skills; Strong team player with an ability to take direction and initiative when needed.
- Highly developed planning, organizational and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Superb interpersonal, listening, and communication skills (verbal and written) for fostering student development and resolving conflict.
- Ability to work well and address challenges with diverse groups from the public, students, staff, faculty members and external offices.
- Excellence in managing projects through effective setting of priorities; creative problem solving skills; ability to initiate independent collaborations.
- Excellent judgment; strong reliability; demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters with knowledge of FIPPA policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
