BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

Excellent English communication skills both oral and written.
Degree in a relevant discipline including Geology, Earth Science, Mining, Economics, Statistics or any relevant education.
Solid numeric analytic capabilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required ; familiarity with PowerPoint and other Office products.
Strong problem-solving ability.
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task, excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly the ability to work in a global team and interact with colleagues in multiple geographic locations.
Proven writing skills and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience as a Mining Analyst or similar role that deals with Data.
Knowledge of mine exploration and stages of development.
Passionate on working with loads of Data.
Experience with SQL, Python, PowerBI MS Access or other database systems are highly desired.
The Schedule: Rotation between APAC and EMEA

The Role: Associate Research Analyst – Metals & Mining
The Team : The Metals & Mining Research team within S&P Global Commodity Insights is the foremost authority on global exploration and supply trends, producing a proprietary series of periodical and topical reports for clients. With a sharp focus on detail, our Manila-based team provides leading analysis of current trends, allowing our clients to make informed business decisions.
The Impact : As a Research Associate, you will examine emerging exploration trends by documenting proprietary corporate data of mining companies, while also assessing the exploration potential of projects around the world. This research provides clients with tools to assess the health of the global mining industry, react to emerging trends, capitalize on business development opportunities, and benchmark their activities against peers.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Company outreach: contact mineral exploration companies around the world to collect exploration budget information.
Metals and mining data research & collection: review sources and understand data processes in order to collect the most timely and accurate data available. Sources include internal databases, third party subscriptions and external public domain web sites.
Assist in the refresh of an annual corporate exploration budget database, company profile summaries and other proprietary data sets by leading data collection efforts.
Interact with sector-focused research analyst teams to understand project scope and resolve obstacles as they arise.
Interface with research operations leadership to define weekly goals and objectives . Report out on progress and elevate challenges and shifts in priorities accordingly.
Support the execution of various ad-hoc and process improvement initiatives by completing assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
Training and development: participate in all relevant training sessions and complete all assigned training modules.
