Responsibilities
The Restructuring and Special Situations Group advises large companies, senior and junior creditor as well as private equity sponsors in financially distressed situations. The group advises on a variety of transactions including, amongst others, rescue financings, liability management, amend & extend, exchange offers or recapitalizations and has been involved in the most complex and high-profile transactions in the last decade.
Associates in the Restructuring & Special Situations Group have the opportunity to develop a broad corporate finance skill as well as managing multi-party negotiations and various stakeholder groups. Due to the small size of deal teams, Associates are integral to all aspects of a deal and are highly involved in the structuring, negotiation and execution of transactions.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Performing financial due diligence;
  • Developing and reviewing detailed business plans;
  • Building and analysing comprehensive financial models;
  • Analysing credit and other legal documents;
  • Supporting in the development of transaction structures and proposals;
  • Attending client negotiating and strategy sessions;
  • Supporting senior bankers on marketing initiatives; researching and analysing potential restructuring targets.

Qualifications

PJT Partners seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. In addition, qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Strong qualitative and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid accounting and corporate finance knowledge
  • Strong team player and desire to work in a fast pace environment, often under tight deadlines
  • Ability to perform extensive valuation, returns and recovery analyses
  • Ability to navigate and extract key information from loan and bond documents, in addition to having a detailed understanding of key legal restructuring frameworks
  • At least 2.5 years of work experience in financial restructuring, leveraged finance or in credit investing
  • Fluency in English and German is required
