Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Works independently to perform and interpret in vitro cellular functional assays using primary mammalian cells and cell lines and to identify and characterize antibodies using some or all of the following methods: in vitro screening methodologies such as single B cell PCR, single B cell expansion, expression assays, binding assays, ELISA, MSD, and multiplex analysis assays including flow cytometry. Responsibilities also include developing and performing novel cellular assays and evaluating activity of specific antibodies from AnaptysBio’s discovery and affinity maturation platform.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors’ degree in a biology-related discipline
- 10 years related laboratory experience or Masters’ in a biology-related discipline with 8 years related laboratory research experience
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
- Functional knowledge of, and working experience in, principles and practices of molecular and cell biology methodologies and cellular immunology, which will include some or all of the following: mammalian cell culture, cell transfection, functional/in-vitro cellular immunology assays and cellular assay development, multiplex assays, single cell PCR, and DNA cloning techniques
- Experience in executing cellular signaling assays including ELISA, luminescence, and flow cytometry-based readouts
- Experience in primary mammalian lymphocyte and mononuclear cell purification and functional assays
- Proficiency in basic computer data analysis and presentation applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Able to work with limited supervision, and effectively within a team setting, and design experiments to answer specific scientific questions
- Able to learn new laboratory techniques efficiently, troubleshoot experiments, and ensure experiments are well designed and performed to a high standard
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Develop, optimize and perform new methods and technologies for antibody discovery to specific targets which may include novel applications of molecular biology and/or cellular biology
- Develop, optimize, and perform ELISA, MSD, flow cytometry, and in vitro cellular functional assays, including potential intracellular signaling assays to characterize antibodies in support of discovery programs
- Formulate experimental plans to achieve scientific goals in new and creative ways
- Design and accurately execute experiments
- Analyze and interpret experimental results and make recommendations for action/further research
- Organize, summarize and clearly present data at project team meetings and to senior management
- Lead cross-functional antibody discovery with cell biology, molecular biology and protein sciences
- Prepare experimental write-ups for research reports, transfer to external CRO/collaborators, patent applications and manuscripts
- Apply scientific literature to solve problems and formulate new ideas
- Identify potentially patentable inventions
- Direct the activities of team members when necessary
